Travis Tuning Pin and Coil Cleaner
My Steinway B was exposed to high humidity in is past before owned it. There was rust on the pins and coils. The bass strings needed replacement and I had scheduled the job with my technician. I wanted to give the piano a good cleaning before replacing the bass strings so I ordered this kit. It did an AMAZING JOB! The before and after is dramatic. My tech was surprise at the change.
This cleaner worked quickly and well. Two shortcomings I found with it were that the cleaning compound tended to get worked into the coils and did not come out easily, and the rubber bushings were too loose and would sometimes not spin as the drill turned. Still, it saved a lot of time and did a good job.
I used this on my 1869 rosewood Steinway that had lots of rust. I am not a piano technician and still this kit was very fast and easy to use. It took the rust right off and didn't affect the tuning at all.
